Who can pitch?

Crowd Applauding

To pitch in the final workshop:

  1. You must be an EMCR (<10 years post-PhD)

  2. You may pitch an idea as a team OR as an individual

  3. Your pitch idea can be anything (we encourage blue sky thinking!), it does not have to have pilot data, it does not have to be funded or up and running

  4. Your pitch idea is only eligible if it has not yet received funding or been awarded a prize

  5. Your pitch should be suitable for a lay academic audience and framed as if speaking to potential funders of the idea

  6. Your pitch should be strictly 3 minutes duration (max) and you can use 1 single powerpoint slide if you wish

How will pitches be judged?

Guest Speaker

Each pitch will be judged out of 10 for three criteria:

1. Innovation and creativity (research that challenges and shifts current paradigms)

2. Significance/impact (extent to which the outcome may result in advances in the field/society)

3. Communication (conveys enthusiasm, captures and maintains audience attention, clearly articulates the problem and solution)
